| "BLESSED ARE WE IN HER MYSTERY HAIL MIGHTY DEMETER AND SWEET KORE" |
| INVOCATIONS OF DEMETER AND KORE Beloved Demeter and fair Kore, Blessed are we in Thy Mysteries For all that lives and grows and dies and is born again Rests in the realm of Your creation. Bright are Thy passions To nurture and tend every living thing In all the world. With reverence do we call upon Demeter and Kore To bring Their blessings unto these rites. And so it shall be. INVOCATION OF DEMETER Beloved Mother, You are the hand of the eternal, Whose powers and forces compose the Dance of Life. Verdant and lush Goddess, Great Empress of rich and ripening fruit, Crone of the black and the fallow; Your every countenance is full of magic. Deep, dark soil and its alluvial riches Are the blessed remnants of Death, As the green and fruit-bearing seasons of Life Follow unseeming decay: From the ashes of Death Do You, Chthonia, forge new Life, So that Being never ceases, but only changes form. You are the magic of creations, Never ending and always changing. And with this power You entered below, Bringing the gifts for which You are renown. You have born all, From Earth’s spiraling seasons and many gifts, To the precious and Holy Daughter. Come Beloved One, O Demeter of the Mysteries. Teach us to see the divine patterns of the seasons As elements of the living, changing, and eternal soul. So be it. INVOCATION OF KORE Fair Kore, Full of grace and light and beauty, O my soul and my heart, In purity were You born of the Great Mother. All that glistens as new life, The babe, fresh from the womb, The green grasses that rise after the barren time, The saffron crocus and the white narcissus, And every bud that breaks into bloom To create a glorious Spring, All, all are Thee! It is You, lovely Maiden, Who, living within the realm of time, Make the long journey. And within the season of the Crone on Earth Do You dwell in the deep Below, Where, as Persephone You reign over Elysium, In union with your Great Beloved. O You who are as my very soul, May I learn Thy wisdom, From the divine patterns of the seasons, And from You who are the elements Of the living, changing, and eternal soul. So be it. |
